The Costa Brava
Catalonia's wild coast

Yacht Charters on the Costa Brava

Pine cliffs plunging into coves too small for a road, Dalí's whitewashed Cadaqués at the end of the peninsula, and the Medes Islands' marine reserve for the swim of the trip. The "wild coast" earns its name from the sea.

The Costa Brava — the "wild coast" — is the Mediterranean mainland at its most dramatic: a Catalan shoreline north of Barcelona where pine-covered cliffs fall straight into the water and the prettiest coves have no road to them at all. From the deck you reach the ones the day-trippers can't: slot-like calas around Palamós and Begur, the fishing villages of Tamariu and Calella de Palafrugell, the anchor-and-swim water below the cliffs.

Two landmarks bookend it. At the wild northern tip sits Cadaqués, the whitewashed village Dalí made his own, reached most easily by sea over a mountain road most would rather sail around. Offshore near L'Estartit lie the Medes Islands, a small marine reserve that is the best snorkelling and diving on this coast. And Barcelona is right at the southern doorstep — a charter here can begin or end under the city's skyline.

Aşağıdaki the costa brava listesine önceden uyguladığımız filtreler.

Dalí's Cadaqués

The whitewashed village at the wild northern cape — easiest to reach by sea, and unforgettable at anchor in its bay.

The Medes marine reserve

A protected islet cluster off L'Estartit with the coast's best snorkelling and diving — a highlight swim of any Costa Brava week.

Roadless pine coves

Around Begur and Palamós the best calas have no road — pine cliffs, clear water, and a boat as the only way in.

Barcelona at the doorstep

Start or finish under the city — few cruising grounds let you pair a wild coast with a great capital so easily.

Sık sorulan sorular

The Costa Brava için.

Where do Costa Brava charters start?

Barcelona (Port Vell / Port Olímpic) and the Costa Brava marinas — Palamós, L'Estartit, Roses — are the bases. Barcelona (BCN) and Girona (GRO) airports both serve the coast; Girona is closest to the northern calas.

When is the best season?

June and September are ideal — warm sea, open coves, fewer crowds. July–August are busy and hot. Watch for the tramontana, a strong north wind that funnels down this coast in spring and autumn; your captain plans around it and the coves offer shelter.

How does it compare to the Balearics?

It's the mainland alternative — more dramatic cliff-and-cove scenery and easy access to Barcelona, versus the Balearics' turquoise anchorages and island-hopping. Some longer charters cross from the Costa Brava to Menorca (an overnight passage).

Is the sailing demanding?

The coves are short hops in settled summer weather, so it's relaxed — but the tramontana can be serious in the shoulder seasons, which is a good reason to take a skipper or crew here.
